Sip, Savor, and Stay: A Napa Itinerary

Save this for your next Napa weekend getaway—wine, food, and relaxation all in one perfect trip!

Here’s the itinerary from our weekend trip — perfect for wine lovers, foodies, and anyone looking for the ultimate Napa experience.

Hotel: Silverado Resort & Spa

One of my go-to spots for a Napa weekend getaway is the Silverado Resort & Spa — it’s perfectly located and has everything you need. The rooms are spacious, come with a full kitchen, and feel like your own little home away from home. The staff is super welcoming, there’s a great bar and coffee shop on-site, and if you or your partner golf, the course is absolutely stunning.

Tasting 1: Nickel & Nickel

To start our weekend getaway, we left San Francisco at 9:15am as our first tasting was at 10:45am at Nickel & Nickel - This allowed us enough time to grab a quick coffee and make our way up to Napa in time for our first tasting.

We did their Terroir Tasting, which included a guided tour and a tasting of six single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons paired with artisanal bites. Walking through the historic Oakville farmstead, we got to learn how each micro-region influences the wine. It was such a unique experience — I had no idea how different each Cab could taste until this! This tasting lasted around 90 minutes, so we were on our way to the next stop around 12:30.

Tasting 2: Hall Wines

The next stop was Hall Wines, which was super convenient since it’s located just past Nickel & Nickel. We walked in for a casual tasting upstairs and gave ourselves a little self-guided tour. It was the perfect spot to sip through their wines at our own pace and then head outside to relax and take in the beauty of the property. After enjoying the experience, we were ready for a quick bite and left around 2:20 PM.

Lunch Break: Gott’s Roadhouse

If you want a quick and affordable lunch, Gott's will be your go to spot. Gott’s Roadside is a Napa staple, known for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It’s the perfect casual stop between wine tastings. From juicy burgers to hand-spun shakes, it’s a must-visit for a laid-back, delicious bite in the heart of Napa.

Pro tip: Place your order while you're wrapping up at your last winery so your food’s ready when you arrive. The line at Gott’s gets long — trust me, you’ll be glad you planned ahead!

Tasting 3: Heitz Cellar

Our last stop on the wine tour was Heitz Cellar, and it was the perfect way to end the day. Located conveniently on the way back to the Silverado, the tasting was intimate and relaxing. The sommelier was incredibly personable, making the experience feel special and personal — a great way to wrap up our wine-tasting adventure before heading back to the hotel.

Silverado Resort

To wrap up the day, we headed back to Silverado Resort. After a full day of wine tastings, a nap was definitely in order! We got back around 4:45 PM and immediately passed out (this is your sign to schedule some nap time between your last tasting and dinner, trust me!). Once we woke up, we headed to The Grill at Silverado for a laid-back but delicious dinner. Not ready to call it a night just yet, we made our way to The Mansion Bar and Terrace for a late-night drink by the outdoor fireplaces — the perfect, peaceful end to the evening.

On Sunday morning, before heading back to the city, we made sure to squeeze in some time at the Silverado Golf Course. We had an 8:50 AM tee time, so we grabbed lattes and breakfast burritos from their coffee shop, then checked in at the Golf Shop. We had the best time on the course — the perfect way to cap off an amazing weekend.

Hope this itinerary gives you some inspiration! Let me know what spots I should check out next.

xx

Lauren
